Danny Holmes praised his side for showing “a lot of desire and character” as they battled back to win from a losing position for the first time this season.
Wimborne entertained fellow Magpies and Dorset rivals Dorchester in Southern League South on the back of four straight defeats and it appeared the hosts’ poor run would continue when Tom Blair broke the deadlock after 10 minutes.
It wasn’t until the final 20 minutes that Wimborne got on the scoresheet through Sam Bayston, but they quickly doubled their tally thanks to a Tony Lee strikes to secure all three points.
Holmes told Radio Wimborne: “There was a lot of pressure on this game. I know Callum Brooks (Dorchester manager) quite well, and we had a really long chat before the game, and he was feeling the similar sort of things.
“Commiserations to him, but I thought we did really well. We passed it around nicely. Especially at home, it’s a local derby – we could have gone into the bottom three.”
