Boss Matty Holmes insisted he could see the passion in his Wimborne Town squad after they eased their Southern League South relegation worries, the Bournemouth Echo report.

Magpies sealed a 2-0 victory at Harrow Borough, thanks to goals from Jordan Lee and Matt Oldring.

Victory increased to five points the Cuthbury club’s advantage on the bottom three with three games remaining – following Gosport’s 3-0 reverse at home to Merthyr.

Holmes told the Daily Echo: “It was a brilliant result and it takes the pressure off for a week!

“We tried to stress to the boys not to panic and just to try to work as hard they could. Everyone to a man put a shift in and it was a brilliant result.

“When the second one went in the lads were going absolutely ballistic. The passion was there and there was no way they were going to concede after that.”
