JJ Hooper feels he still has a point to prove at Wrexham after making his long awaited comeback from a second injury, but has hit out at suggestions he had refused to play for the Dragons.
Hooper, who was previous manager Bryan Hughes’ “priority” signing in the summer, has endured a tough start to life at the Racecourse, suffering two injuries – at Hartlepool on August Bank Holiday Monday and then against at Dagenham & Redbridge in late October following his comeback.
Keates had been outspoken over Hooper’s injury recently revealing scans and treatment had given the striker the all-clear, but that he was still not ready for a return to action.
That had prompted suggestions Hooper had refused to play, albeit something Keates had denied in the build up to the trip to the Shay Stadium, with Hooper also denying such claims.
“I would never refuse to play, not for any club, but especially a club like Wrexham,” said Hooper.
“The fans have shown me so much love since I came here.”
