Manager Mike Ford has confirmed that 22 year-old striker Leam Howards has agreed to return to the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium and sign for Banbury United for next season.
Leam came through the junior, youth and reserve sides at Banbury United and progressed to make a handful of first team appearances prior to joining Abingdon Town in November 2013. He re-joined Banbury in August 2014 and was a key part of the club’s Southern League South & West Division promotion winning squad of season 2015/16, scoring 17 goals for the club that season.
After making 116 first team appearances for the Puritans, 47 of which were when coming on as a substitute, scoring a total of 41 goals, he left Banbury in September 2016 for Ardley United, scoring 24 goals in 38 appearances for the Hellenic League Premier Division side to the end of last season, including both goals as Ardley beat Tuffley Rovers 2-0 in the final of the Hellenic League Supplementary Cup at the end of the season.
Mike Ford commenting on his latest squad addition for the new season said “I spoke to Leam a few days ago and I am delighted that he has come back to confirm that he will sign for us for next season. He is Banbury United through and through and a great character to have around the club. He is an excellent addition to the squad that we are putting together for next season and it is great to have him back at Banbury United.”
