Jeff Hughes says he has added motivation to get Tranmere Rovers through Saturday’s Buildbase FA Trophy semi-final against Macclesfield Town.
The former Northern Ireland international helped Fleetwood Town to the play-off final a few seasons ago but missed out on an appearance at Wembley through injury.
He told Tranmere Player HD: “When you get older, you realise what you’ve missed out on.
“The last time I was at Wembley, I was injured so I was sat there watching it when I was at Fleetwood.
“So I haven’t actually played there, so it would be a good personal achievement to get there and play at the new Wembley.”
Tranmere Rovers take on Macclesfield Town in the semi-final second leg at Prenton Park on Saturday afternoon (3pm kick-off) and the midfielder is expecting a tough encounter.
He added: “Macclesfield beat us over two legs if you like over the Christmas period, so we cannot take anything for granted.
“We have a lot of match-winners in the team so we all need to step up and help us get the result.”
