Hungerford Town have confirmed that defender Matt Williams and forward Luke Hopper asked to leave the club over the weekend.

The Crusaders, who are currently battling relegation in the Vanarama National League South and sitting five points above the drop zone with games in hand, have thanked both players for their services and wished them the best for the future. New boss Ian Herring said: “Although accepting these requests, I asked Matty to give me time to find a replacement and hadn’t released him until the game was called off yesterday.

“There’s a lot of work progressing to improve us on the pitch and we will only sign players we believe will improve us in the short term, as well as long term. Things are starting to settle and we will have some positive news soon regarding signings.”
