Scott Boden is confident of making the desired impact at new club Torquay United.
The experienced marksman joined the Gulls recently from Chesterfield, with his new side currently a point clear at the top of the National League, albeit with Sutton United in 2nd having two games in hand.
Speaking to the club’s YouTube channel, the 31-year-old said of his own ambitions of returning to the EFL:
“I think you’ve always got something to prove, regardless of your age and what you’ve done in the past. It’s always the future anyway, it’s the here and now that’ll get you to your future.
“It’s probably stereotypical of me to say it’s game by game from now until the end of the season. Hopefully, touch wood, we are up there, where we currently sit.
“It has got unbelievably tight, to be fair, but the job in hand is concentrating on ourself. That is the key from now until the end of May.”
Acknowledging the expectation on him to hit scoring form for Gary Johnson’s side, he added:
“I know the team create a hell of a lot of chances, and if I can be in the right place at the right time when those chances are created, I back myself to put the ball in the back of the net. That’s what I will put pressure on myself to do, and I don’t mind that pressure, I like that pressure.
“Hopefully it’ll bring out the best in me as well.”
