Notts County manager Neal Ardley believes the destination of this season’s National League title is far from decided.

Torquay United currently lead the way in the table by eight points, though Altrincham aside, have played more games so far than anyone else (22).

Notts County are 11 points back, with four games in hand, and moved up to 5th after last night’s 3-1 win over Dagenham & Redbridge.

Speaking ahead of the game, manager Ardley told the club’s website: “With no disrespect to Torquay, because they have an excellent team and probably the most decorated manager (Gary Johnson) in the league, we’re not even half-way through the season yet. We’re a long way from it and I don’t think we should be handing the title over.

“If Torquay can continue with the points-per-game ratio they’re on now, it’s going to be very difficult to catch them. But we’re certainly not writing off trying to finish top of the league; that’s got to be our aim.”
