New boss Gavin Cowan says its vital AFC Telford forge stronger links with the community as he looks to build a team to make the entire town proud.

The 36-year-old, a former Bucks defender, was appointed manager at the National League North outfit last week following the departure of Rob Edwards. A popular figure amongst supporters, Cowan captained Telford during a successful spell between 2008 and 2010.

And the boss said he is now determined to build a team that gets the town excited once again. I was very proud to be captain of Telford over a very successful period,” the boss said.

“I want to bring big crowds, lots of buzz around the place. I want to see supporters in the bar afterwards.

“It is important that we link in with the community. I really want to encourage people to come and watch their football club and be proud.

“Win, lose or draw, they will see a team that will leave everything out on the pitch. And I think that’s all supporters ask for.”
