Ilkeston Town have announced a new two-year deal for manager Martin Carruthers.
The former Stoke City and Peterborough United forward took over at the club back in November 2019.
Speaking to the club’s YouTube channel, ex-Scunthorpe United and Southend United man Carruthers said:
“When I brought in a whole group of new players, we knew they’d take time to settle. Certainly the start of the season didn’t reflect that, I thought it would take us more time to bed in.
“After looking at the Gainsborough game, I didn’t think we were far away from being a top-three side. I don’t like to make drastic changes, so ideally, two or three maximum changes.
“I’d like to think if we can keep 90/95 per cent of that squad together, and just two or three max new additions in certain areas, then we’re gonna be a major force this season.”
