Workington skipper Gari Rowntree will miss the Cumberland Cup Final at Brunton Park next week after sustaining a broken ankle.
He hobbled off just before the end of normal time at Stourbridge after a needless challenge sent him over the touchline, colliding with those in the technical area. It was subsequently confirmed that he had cracked a bone in his ankle and he will be out of action for at least six weeks.
“I’ll miss the County Cup final and the Tony Hopper celebration match so to say I’m gutted is an understatement,” lamented the popular defender who has suffered more than his fair share of injuries in his career.
Gari has never played in a Cumberland Cup final and was expected to lead the team out against Penrith.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Reds have been allocated the away dressing room for the final at Brunton Park.
