Striker Ade Yusuff became Folkestone Invicta’s first close season signing of 2017 when he agreed terms with manager Neil Cugley at a service station on the M20 last weekend.
The Lewisham born player, who will be 24 at the end of this month, was most recently with Heybridge Swifts and was recommended to Folkestone boss Neil Cugley by our former captain Kevin Watson who had him at Chatham when he managed the Medway club a couple of years ago.
“He’s fast and direct and gives us another option up front where we’ve sometimes needed a bit more pace” said Cugley.
Now living in the Dartford area, Yusuff works in Medway and was keen to get back and playing at a good level in Kent.
A former Stevenage Borough trainee, he was sold by Chatham to Dagenham & Redbridge after scoring 23 goals in 37 games for them in season 2013/14.
While at Dagenham, for whom he made 19 appearances (scoring twice) he also had loan spells at a number of clubs including St Alban’s City, Leatherhead, East Thurrock United and Welling United.
Cugs, who is due to meet chairman Paul Morgan this evening, Wednesday, to finalise the playing budget for this coming season, is still talking to two more players and admit his priority is in midfield, He said “That is definitely an area we need to strengthen.”
