Chorley CEO Terry Robinson says the club wanted to continue with the current season.
The Magpies, whose season will be very obviously remembered for their stunning FA Cup run, saw their National League North campaign brought to a close last month.
Speaking as part of an update to supporters today, Robinson said: “Following what we feel were poor decisions to go to a vote, a plan to form a league of teams, including ourselves, who wished to play on, was eventually rejected by the Alliance Committee, and we have now received official written confirmation from The National League and The FA.
“It was our desire to carry on playing football – in the main so we could continue with the rebuilding and development of our young squad. Our plan will now suffer given the long lay-off from competitive football.”
