Giancarlo Gallifuoco was proud of all his Dover teammates after they held on to beat Boreham Wood 3-2 in the National League.

The Whites went 3-1 up with five minutes to go but a late goal from their opponents set up a nervy end to the match. The defender said the whole squad had given their all to come away with all three points.

Gallifuoco said: “It’s a massive performance and I’m so proud of everyone. We dug in and towards the end they threw everything they had at us.

“We all gave 100% and everyone in the changing room in knackered. It’s one of those performances when you go into the changing room dead but you are so happy that everyone banded together and got the three points.”

Dover had been on a poor run of form in the league and had not won in five matches. Gallifuoco said the win meant a lot to his side and hopes they can build on it.

He said: “We want so much from ourselves and a draw feels like a loss at times. We have been down a bit about it that we haven’t been able to take those one points to three points.

“As you can see it meant a lot to us to get back to winning ways. Hopefully it is onwards and upwards from here.

“This whole time we’ve been in there and we’ve been having a lot of one points that should have been three. But this was definitely a big confidence boost.

“Everyone is up and in good spirits.”
