Former Colchester United midfielder Kemal Izzet is to take over as new manager of Thurlow Nunn League club Stanway Rovers.
Izzet ended his playing career just days ago, making his final appearance for Needham Market in their Suffolk Premier Cup Final win over Lowestoft Town.
The brought an end to a career spanning over eighteen years and over 400 Football League appearances.
Izzet began his career with Charlton Athletic, joining Colchester on loan in 2001.
That loan move was made permanent and the midfielder spent the next twelve years with the Essex club.
A move into non-league with Needham Market followed and it was during his time with the Marketmen that he began his coaching career with a role as the club’s academy manager.
In his new role with Stanway will be assisted by former U’s team mate Karl Diguid, who had been appointed as Rovers manager in December.
Duguid will now stay with the club and will assist Izzet in his first managerial role.
The club also announced that Michael Pulford will be taking on the role of Director of Football.
