Billericay Town have announced the departure of former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara.
The 32-year-old former Portsmouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder joined the club in 2017, as Ricay made headlines with signings like ex-top-flight players Paul Konchesky and Jermaine Pennant.
The club announced O’Hara’s departure with the following tweet:
PLAYER DEPARTURE | From Everyone at the club we would like to thank
@Mrjamieohara1 for all his efforts and hardwork in his 18 months at the club, both parties have agreeed with the new structure in place it was the best decision for all. Thanks for everything Jamie
Billericay have risen to the National League South, currently sitting in 2nd, though there have been changes taking place at the club of late, which O’Hara alluded to in this statement he made via Twitter:
‘The time has come for me to say goodbye to Billericay. With the current regime and situation surrounding the club it became impossible for me to stay. I joined the club with Glenn (Tamplin) with an ambition of getting to the Football League. It now seems they’re taking a different direction so (I) felt it’s best I look for a different challenge.’
O’Hara went on to thank those at the club for his time there, describing them as ‘like a family to me.’
