Jarrow FC have confirmed that the club have been charged by Durham County FA over spectator abuse towards players.
The Ebac Northern League Division 2 side say the charge relates to their recent game with Tow Law Town, in which ‘spectator/spectators’ were abusing opposition players, ‘in particular, a number of homophobic comments directed at a particular player.’
Jarrow say they will be carrying out a full investigation and those responsible ‘will be denied access to all Jarrow FC games indefinitely.’
The club add: “We have come a long way since our promotion to the Northern League, a lot of people have put a lot of hard work into the club, and a small minority of mindless individuals will not be allowed to spoil the experience for others.”
