Forest Green Rovers defender Ben Jefford has been recalled from his loan at Woking and has moved to the club’s National League counterparts Sutton United on a permanent transfer.

The 22-year-old has transferred to the Gander Green Lane club after a ten month stay at The New Lawn.

Having been a regular starter at the beginning of this season, he recently went on loan to Woking at the end of October, but has now made a full time move to Sutton.

Signed from Welling United in January, Jefford went on to represent FGR in the National League promotion final at Wembley in May against Grimsby Town.

The former Port Vale youngster made 13 appearances in total in his time at Forest Green.

A gentleman’s agreement between the two clubs means that he will not be able to play for Sutton when FGR travel to face last season’s National League South champions next in early February.
