Julian Dicks has left his role as Heybridge Swifts manager to join the West Brom coaching staff.
It reunites West Ham legend Dicks with his former Hammers teammate and good friend Slaven Bilic, who recently took over as West Brom boss. Dicks had previously worked with Bilic during the Croatian’s time in charge at West Ham.
Assistant manager and former Colchester United man Karl Duguid is set to take over as Swifts boss, subject to ratification by the club’s committee.
Chairman Gary White said of Dicks’ departure: “While we are disappointed to lose Julian after he did a superb job for our club last season, this opportunity is simply too good for him to miss.
“It gives him a chance to work again in the Premier League, where he was previously with Slaven at West Ham for two seasons until November 2017. We all wish him well in his new role and thank him for doing such a terrific job after coming in following a disappointing run of league and cup results.”
Appointed manager last October, ex-Liverpool defender Dicks led Swifts to a Bostik North play-offs win in May. He also featured in Non-League Daily’s ‘The Bosses’ Lounge,’ which you can read again here.
