Dean Keates stated there “will be a reaction next week” after watching his side go down at Aldershot Town and lose top spot in the National League.

First-half goals from Bernard Mensah and Shamir Fenelon ensured the sixth-placed Shots claimed all three points to close the gap on the leaders while seeing Wrexham’s stint at the top of the table last only a matter of days, the Dragons being overtaken by Sutton United by virtue of a better goals scored record.

Wrexham entertain Maidenhead on Saturday and after the disappointment of the showing at the Recreation ground, Keates has promised a reaction.

“Any loss is a disappointment but it has gone,” said the Dragons boss. “We will look back and it and learn from it and we will have a reaction next week at home.

“There have been other teams there (at the top) before us this season and there will be other teams there before the end of the season.

“It is tight, I said from day one it is going to be tight. Obviously we are disappointed but we will regroup, have a good weeks training and get ready for next week.”
