Ryan Brett is eager to get back into action on Saturday as he looks to build on the high standards that we set ourselves in Truro City’s last game against Oxford City a fortnight ago.
“The performance in our last game has really set the standard, particularly in the first half,” he said. “Everyone played their part and we were all seven, eight or nine out of ten, which is what is required in this League because everyone is capable of beating each other.
“Toddy came in at the back and really made a difference; his experience is so important in what is a young squad and he helped to bring the best out of those around him.
“Having a break came at the wrong time because we wanted to get straight back into action and start an unbeaten run and build on the momentum that we gained from the victory over Oxford.
“That said, it has allowed some of the lads who were carrying slight knocks time to recover and we’ve been able to do some extra work on the training ground, but nothing beats being out there in game situations and we can’t wait for Saturday to come around now.
“We need to take the mentality from our last game into it. It’s a tough place to go but we’ll go there looking to do a job and add to our points tally.”
Brett admits that he is pleased with his own performance levels this term having seen his progress halted by injury last season.
“I feel that I have done okay,” he added. “I have been pleased with my general performance levels recently, obviously there are always areas that you would like to improve, but I am happy and now the aim is to maintain a consistent level for the remainder of the season.
“Hopefully this in turn will spread to the rest of the team and we can start moving up the table. We know what we are capable of and it would be nice to be able to get a run of positive results together.”
