Colwyn Bay manager Phill Hadland has announced his first confirmed signing for the new season in former Glossop North End, Witton Albion and Marine goalkeeper Matt Cooper.

The 28-year-old, who started his playing career at Leek Town, was in the Glossop side that played at Wembley in the 2009/10 FA Vase final against Whitley Bay and then had three seasons with Witton Albion before a short spell at Marine prior to  rejoining Glossop where he won the Player of the Month award in February.

The manager expects more players to put pen to paper over the next week or so and although Luke Denson and Tom Schofield have left the club, he is expecting most of last season’s squad to sign on again.

“I still need to finalise terms with a few players and speak to some lads who are away on holiday, but the majority will definitely be staying,” reported the manager.

The club are awaiting confirmation from a couple of clubs before releasing a list of pre-season games.
