Glyn Garner has joined Merthyr Town from fellow Evo-Stik League Southen Premier Division club Cirencester Town.

The experienced keeper has signed in time to make his debut at Chesham United Saturday 16 January.

Pontypool born Glyn began his career with Cwmbran Town and Llanelli, before moving to Bury in 2000. Garner made 126 appearances for Bury in his 5 years before moving on to play for fellow football league teams Leyton Orient and Shrewsbury Town.

In 2010 Garner signed for Grays Athletic, and then played for Newport County and Bath City. Glyn joined Cirencester Town in 2013, where he was regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the Southern League.

Glyn helped the Centurions finish above the Martyrs in the 2013/14 to win the South & West Division 1 championship and made his last appearance for Cirencester against Stratford Town on Tuesday and helped his side to a 3-0 victory.
