Goalkeeper Richie Mottram has joined Leon Knight’s high-flying Barnton from Runcorn Linnets.
Mottram joins other former Linnets Mike Burke, Chris Lomax and Kev Towey at Townfield as Knight moved as quickly as possible to replace the departing Adam Judge.
Richie, who has also played between the sticks for Leek Town, Warrington Town and Prescot Cables, made his Barnton debut in the 3-1 victory at Widnes just before Christmas, and again stood out during the 6-1 triumph at Rochdale Town on January 2nd, Barnton’s last outing.
Manager Leon Knight said of his lastest signing, “I’m happy and confident bringing in Richie; I first crossed him when we had a friendly earlier in the season. I liked him then and I’m happy that he has come in and fitted right in to take over from the brilliant Adam Judge.
Richie’s kicking and set up play is second to none. He has done well so far and long may it continue.
Also I’d like to say thank you to Colin Quirk, Judgey and Jesse Robinson for their service – we wish them all the best in the next chapter of their careers.”
Mottram added, “I’m delighted to have signed for the club, because they have ambition and drive to succeed.”
