Altrincham have made an interesting new signing in former WWE wrestler Stuart Tomlinson!

The 31-year-old is, however, an ex-pro goalkeeper who progressed from the Crewe Alexandra youth team to turn professional in 2003.

He spent the next six years with the Railwaymen, spending part of 2004 on loan at Stafford Rangers, and playing once on loan for Burton Albion in 2008 before leaving Crewe in May 2009 after making twenty appearances.

He spent the 2009/10 campaign at Conference (National League) outfit Barrow AFC, where he shared goalkeeping responsibilities with current Alty number one, Tim Deasy.

He then signed with Port Vale, and was first choice for the 2010/11 and 2011/12 campaigns before choosing to leave the club in July 2012 after making seventy-four appearances.

He signed for Burton Albion in September 2012, but retired through injury in July 2013 after adding twenty-five games to his tally.

In December 2013, Tomlinson began training as a professional wrestler on a developmental contract with WWE, making his debut at a WWE NXT live event in November 2014.

He was released from his contract in September 2016 without making an official televised appearance.
