Chelmsford City boss Rod Stringer discussed squad selection, Tom Knowles, Alex Osborn and much more following City’s win at the weekend.
“Tommy Knowles came on and showed some good signs,” he said. “He can fit on both sides and he can play down the middle as well.”
“It’s hard for him (at the moment) because he’s alien to the players. We felt Ozzy (Alex Osborn) deserved a chance because he’s been tremendous around us; his attitude has been bang on and he trains very hard.
“We rested Chris (Whelpdale) and made the decision to take Mickey (Spillane) out. Whether that’s the right decision or not, we live and die by our decisions and I felt it would not do Mickey any harm.
“He now has to fight for his place back in the team and that can only be healthy. Shaun Jeffers has come off the bench and scored; in fact, two of our subs scored!
“Going back to Tom (Knowles), though, I felt he contributed to the game well.”
