Max Kretzschmar revealed he is “enjoying my football the most I ever have at Woking” and he remains upbeat despite the Cards’ 3-1 home National League defeat to Barnet on Tuesday night.
The 26-year-old has loved his role as an attacking midfielder since being brought back into the team five games ago at Notts County, where he scored in the 1-1 draw, and says he has “worked on my weaknesses” to ensure he is a more complete performer.
Kretzschmar’s determination to hold down a regular spot alongside Kane Ferdinand and Charlton Athletic loanee Ben Dempsey in the Cards midfield has been a feature of the team’s recent four-match unbeaten run, which was brought to an end by clinical Barnet who, despite coming under enormous pressure, were better in both boxes on the night.
Kretzschmar said: “I’m getting a regular run and feel as though I’m deserving of my place, and I’m doing what I knew I always could do.”
