Tamworth returned to winning ways with a deserved 2-1 victory over Curzon Ashton on Tuesday evening to make player-manager, Andy Morrell, a happy man
Goals from Ellis Deeney and Ross Dyer saw us win for the first time on home soil since the beginning of December.
“I am really pleased,” beamed Andy Morrell. “I asked for a reaction and a front-foot performance and I got it.
“The lads were great; it’s tough to get going again when things are not going your way, but we needed that win and the players put everything they had into getting it.
“We maybe made it a little tougher than it should have been but to a man they stepped up to the plate.
“Getting the opening goal lifted us and now we have to make sure that we do it more often. I don’t want this to be a one-off, we have to take things forward now into our next game.
“I am delighted for the lads; a lot of hard work went into that. It’s been a while since we have had a performance at home and the fans were great.
“They backed the team from the off and it was really appreciated by the lads.”
Next up is a trip to Gloucester City on Saturday.
“It will be another tough challenge,” added Morrell. “They’ll be a handful for us on a big pitch, but if we go into the game with the same mentality, we’ll give ourselves every chance.
“We know that when we play, we are a good side.”
