Influential centre back Luke Jones has joined Ellis Deeney in committing his future to Tamworth until the end of the 2017/18 season.

The defender’s arrival has coincided with a promising run of National League North form, with just one defeat in nine games since since he debuted in September’s home clash with FC United, including a run of five consecutive wins.

Commenting on Jones contract extension, Andy Morrell said “He’s been great for us so far this season and done exactly as we expected. He’s a leader and a communicator, but most importantly an out and out defender.

His fitness is improving week on week too. He had a few options on the table, but has bought in to what we are trying to achieve here, and we are delighted to have him.”

Jones began his career by graduating from the Academy set up at Blackburn Rovers, before successful spells at the likes of Kidderminster Harriers, Mansfield Town, and Stevenage.
