Tamworth’s Danny Newton is in high spirits after bagging four goals last weekend and is hoping to continue his rich vein of scoring form on Saturday as we head to Chorley.

“I have never scored four times in a game before, unless you count playing with my mates,” he said “I have only ever scored one hat-trick, so I think I shocked myself on Saturday to be honest.

“Everything just seemed to fall for me against Stalybridge and I am over the moon.

“It’s a massive boost after the injury and everything; it’s been a frustrating season so far, to be fair,, where nothing has happened for me.

“I felt I was just getting into my stride and scoring a few goals when I picked up the injury in November and then you just think, this is not going to be your season.

“But fortunately I have been able to come back in and hit the ground running.

“Hopefully I can kick-on now because I still feel there’s more to come in the sense that I am still getting my sharpness back.

“I’ll go into Saturday’s game at Chorley with my confidence sky high.”
