Summer signing Shaquille Leachman-Whittingham opened his scoring account for Rushall Olympic in the convincing 4-1 victory over Worcester City on Saturday.
The exciting wide forward arrived at Dales Lane last month amidst plenty of interest from elsewhere, having put in some impressive performances for Redditch United last term.
“To be honest, I was more than happy to get my first goal for the club,” he said. “I think I was the only one of the attacking players not to score in our opening games, so it’s nice to break my duck.”
“It was a well-worked team goal, so I was pleased to be able to provide the finishing touch. We didn’t start so well against Worcester City – we were guilty of giving the ball away a bit too easily in the early exchanges – but as the game went on we started to pick up the pace and you could see our quality start to show through.
“We began to pass and move the ball a lot quicker and there were plenty of positives to come out of the game. It was another good test for us because Worcester are a decent side but we played to our strengths to finally get our rewards and score another four goals.”
