Sutton United manager Matt Gray has emphasised the need to carefully manage players’ condition as they head towards the final run-in.

A 3-1 win for Gray’s side at Bromley yesterday evening further strengthened their position as National League leaders.

Sutton are four points clear, with games in hand on every team but Notts County in the top seven.

Providing an update on the fitness and injury outlook in the squad, Gray said:

“Will (Randall), just a little, tight hamstring, but no major concern. Certainly three or four days after, we don’t wanna risk that, so we’ll see how he is for the weekend, but nothing long-term at all.

“Jon Barden’s back in training as well, so we’ve got good options there. Donovan (Wilson) found it probably a little bit hard on himself (to be on the bench after) two goals in two games, but just because he hasn’t played since Boxing Day, I was a little bit cautious in making sure his body’s alright, ready to go for the run-in.

“(Omar Bugiel)’s played a lot of minutes recently, and he’s been outstanding, and again tonight. A good back-up there in Tobi (Sho-Silva) to come on.”
