Gainsborough Trinity have announced the departure of manager Lee Sinnott and assistant John Reed.

Heavy home defeats to Warrington Town (4-1) and Farsley Celtic (5-0) have contributed to the management team’s exit. It is exactly a year since former Port Vale manager Sinnott took over, and although Trinity could not quite stay in the National League North, they have had high hopes of an immediate return.

The team are currently just outside the play-offs in the Evo-Stik Premier Division, four points back but having played at least a game more than all the sides above them. Liam King, who has just recently opted to cancel his playing contract with the club after a long spell out injured, has been placed in temporary charge.

King had previously been club captain.
