A dead bat was dropped on the Leeds United transfer speculation involving Josh Hawkes by head coach Paul Heckingbottom.

The Hartlepool United teenager is rumoured to be interesting Newcastle United, Middlesbrough, United and Sunderland, according to Sunderland Echo. However, in his press conference ahead of Saturday’s clash with the Black Cats, Heckingbottom would not be drawn on the link.

“He’s not our player, he’s not someone who we’re in a position to talk about, anything like that,” he said. “It would be one for the summer, while reports are going in on players, we’re speaking about individual players.”
