Young forward Frank Mulhern has joined Southport on loan from Leeds United for three months.
19 year old Mulhern joined was awarded a scholarship at Leeds United in 2013 and has since gone on to represent the Republic of Ireland at the UEFA Under 18 Championships in 2015 where he netted two goals. Mulhern also features regularly for Leeds’ U23 side.
Several days ago Leeds boss Garry Monk told the Daily Mirror: “Frank has got a massive future. He is a young boy in a man’s body already, and he’s got a great touch.
The Championship is tough and demanding, but Frank has the physical attributes to handle it and he can flourish, given a chance.”
Leeds United’s Under-23 coach Jason Blunt also singled out Mulhern for praise last week following Leeds’ U23 game against Charlton: “He’s looking more athletic and powerful, and he’s a talented boy who obviously he knows where the back of the net is”
