Leiston boss Glenn Driver has been given a big play-off boost after clinching the signing of striker Jake Reed.
The 26-year-old has agreed a two-year deal after a deal was agreed with Bostik Premier Division rivals Lowestoft Town. The Trawlerboys have struggled for most of the season in the bottom half of the division but that has not stopped Reed, who has netted 14 times in the league this season and is one of the top strikers in the division.
“It’s a terrific signing” said an excited Driver. “Jake is a very good striker and a proven goal scorer.”
“He has everything you could wish for in a striker; holds the ball up well, runs behind, good feet, good in the air, the full package. At 26 he is coming into his best years and I’m looking forward to working with Jake.
“I have no doubt Jake will be a fans’ favourite and I’m sure he will settle into our way of playing.”
It’s not the first time the Blues have targeted Reed; they were unsuccessful with an approach for his services while with Great Yarmouth back in 2011 just before he signed for Dagenham & Redbridge.
