Leiston have announced that Jack Ainsley has transferred to Victory Road from Vanarama National League North club Lowestoft Town.
Felixstowe based Ainsley graduated through the Ipswich Town youth set up and was a member of their Football League squad.
After joining the Trawlerboys in the summer of 2013, 25 year old he ended last season as Players Player of the Year and was also Lowestoft’s leading scorer.
Blues Chairman Andy Crisp said on the signing, “We are pleased to announce the arrival of Jack Ainsley at Leiston Football Club. Jack is a player who our manager Richard Wilkins has been tracking for some time, we spoke to him pre-season but he opted to sign for Lowestoft Town as they are competing at a higher level.
Jack is a very ambitious player and wanted to play at the highest level possible. He has found it difficult lately with all the travelling and balancing this with his work and a young family especially with a recent new addition to his family so he decided enough was enough.
We are excited by Jack’s arrival and this shows our intent to give it a final push for one of those all important play-off places. Jack has agreed a deal until the end of the 2017/18 season. I’m sure you will join me in wishing him a long and enjoyable stay at Leiston Football Club.”
Manager Richard Wilkins had this to say on the new arrival, “An excellent signing for the club. Jack will add experience and quality to the current squad and can operate in many different positions. He is a leader and strong character and will enhance our team. The Chairman and Board have worked hard to achieve this signing and I thank them for their backing.”
