Leiston finally hope to play their fourth match of 2018 this afternoon when they visit London to take on Met Police, writes Craig Cooper in the Green ‘Un.

It’s been a frustrating period for the Blues, with cancelled games and other results in recent weeks seeing Leiston slip down to eighth in the league table. Just four points separate third-placed Folkestone Invicta and ninth-placed Wingate & Finchley.

“We are looking forward to playing our first match in 18 days against a good Met Police team’, boss Glen Driver said.

“We go into the game fresh and hungry after defeating Wingate & Finchley where I thought we were excellent. Sometimes a rest can do you more harm than it can good, but with injuries and players getting back to fitness I’m hoping it was a blessing.

“It’s very tight now at the top of this division and I told the players at training on Thursday evening that we are going to have to go on a run if we are to finish in the play-offs this season.”
