Leyton Orient do have an interest in Tranmere Rovers striker James Alabi, but any reports claiming that the 23-year-old is having a medical at the club are wide of the mark, the Guardian Series understand.
Head coach Justin Edinburgh has made no secret of his desire to add more firepower to the squad this summer to support last season’s top scorer Macauley Bonne, but Alabi is one of a number of targets that the O’s are talking to at the moment.
Alabi endured a frustrating season at Prenton Park having failed to score in nine appearances, spending the second half of the campaign on loan at Dover Athletic.
The striker, who came through the ranks at Stoke City, moved to Micky Mellon’s men after a prolific campaign with Chester in the National League during the 2016/17 season, where he scored 17 goals in 42 National League appearances, helping the Blues secure a 19th place finish.
