Hereford chairman Jon Hale has praised the atmosphere following supporters’ return to Edgar Street.
The National League North side hosted Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday evening, with the League One outfit winning 2-1 late on.
Speaking to the club’s website, Hale said: “It was a fantastic sight to see supporters back in Edgar Street last night for the visit of Shrewsbury Town in our first home pre-season friendly.
“On a sweltering evening, it was a very encouraging and fluid performance from our players, who more than matched our League One opponents for large parts of the match.
“It was particularly pleasing to see so many families in attendance, enjoying the evening kick-off as the school term comes to an end, and we hope everyone enjoyed themselves. Certainly the atmosphere was like nothing I’d ever heard at a friendly at Edgar Street, both sets of supporters creating an almost cup-tie feeling, which only heightened the enjoyment on our first game back with spectators in attendance.”
