Nuneaton Town and England C midfielder Elliott Whitehouse Vanarama National League side Lincoln City FC for an undisclosed fee.

Whitehouse, who initially joined the Boro on loan from Notts County in 2014/15, joined the club permanently in September 2015 from FC Halifax Town.

His time at Nuneaton saw him make fifty six appearances and landed him the Players’ and Fans’ Player of the Year award at the end of last season.

He was also handed an England ‘C’ call-up by manager Paul Fairclough and made his debut in a 4-3 defeat against Slovakia U21s.

Speaking to the Lincoln City website, Imps manager Danny Cowley expressed his delight at his new addition.

“The signing of Elliott is fantastic for the Club,” said Cowley.

“He is exactly the profile of player that we are looking to bring to the Club. He is young, talented and has a burning ambition to improve and be the best he can be. He will bring an energy, combination play and goals to the group.

“It provides us with flexibility regarding formations as he can play in the middle of midfield, at the top of a midfield or as a second striker. He is a local lad and we were only able to sign him due to his desire to want to come here.

“Nuneaton had substantially bigger offers from other clubs and Elliott could have earned more money elsewhere, however he was adamant that this is where he wanted to play his football. I think as a club that is something that we should be really proud of.”
