Lincoln United skipper Michael Jacklin has taken an opportunity to join Gainsborough Trinity of the National League North.

He had attracted interest from National League North sides earlier in the season and remained at Ashby Avenue.

Supporters have long been saying they are surprised no one has come in for him.

Chairman Ian Beaumont commented “Gutted he is going but he deserves the opportunity. He has been brilliant for Lincoln United.”

Manager Sam Wilkinson added, “Jaffa is a top bloke and will be missed but that is how football works, The move has been conducted properly and he goes with all my best wishes.”

“This now gives the opportunity for someone to fill his boots, both as a player and a captain.”
