With the pre-season campaign all over and done with its time for Ian Culverhouse and his new look King’s Lynn Town team to start the serious stuff in the Southern League Premier Division, they kick things off with a home game against Gosport Borough at The Walks on Saturday.
Manager Culverhouse has made whole sale changes over the summer bringing in plenty of experience to help with growing young talent already in the King’s Lynn Town squad.
Speaking to the official club website Culverhouse had this to say about pre-season and the up and coming season.
“It’s hard pre-season I just see it as minutes and fitness, We all like to win matches as it builds confidence.
“The real football for me starts on the 12th August, pre-season is all about building a squad so that you have 18-20 players to choose from on match days, The lads have got custom to the new formation that we want to play and I can look at fitness levels But the work isn’t done their.
“I don’t really care about results, It’s all about looking at combinations and unit work, playing patterns and how the players play together.
“Fitness levels will be what they are, It will take us 6 games to get upto scratch, I want us to be competitive, If we can compete in every game if we can really get stuck into a game we have enough quality now within the group and we will create chances it’s just about taking them chances we are in for a very good season.
“We’ve brought great experience into the squad which was important, We was very young last year and it wasn’t fair on the youngsters and they where left to get on with it basically by themselves. We needed to see what we needed to improve on and I believe the players we have brought in will help the football club.
“I’m excited for the new season, The chairman has backed me fully when it has come to bringing players in, Now its down to the players to go out their and get the results for the town and more importantly our fans.
