Dorchester Town have announced that local businessman Carl Mintern was co-opted on to the club’s board last night following a meeting of the Directors.
Mintern’s appointment is expected to be confirmed by the members at the Club’s AGM on Wednesday 13th June. He runs several businesses from the Mintern offices situated at Henstridge Airfield.
Mintern Building and Landscaping was his first company, formed shortly after being made redundant 2008. Growing from just himself, to the group of companies it is today with around 60 people working under the Mintern Brand. Mintern Fencing and Sheds was formed in partnership with Andrew Southern, who has family links to Dorchester Town FC. The Mintern group now incorporates Mintern Roofing and Mintern Bathrooms and Wet rooms.
From conversations with Directors at Dorchester Town Football Club, followed by more in depth discussions around the commercial running of the club, Mintern thought that he could add value to the board in many ways.
He said: “The fact it is a community owned venture, really excited me, and obviously with my deep roots in Dorchester I felt privileged to find that there was real value I could add to the club. My skills in finance and business will help me increase the club’s revenue and help to add to the fantastic work already done at the club to build a firstly stable platform, and then sustainable growth that I hope can in turn translate to success on the pitch.”
He went on to say: “It is a very exciting time for the club, with the new 3G pitch, and a multitude of unexplored opportunities to investigate. I certainly hope that I am able to deliver the results that I believe are possible.”
