Vanarama National League South club Gosport Borough are in negotiations with potential new owners following recent financial uncertainty.

The club has been served with two winding-up petitions since August.

Local businessman Danny Thompson is leading a consortium interested in taking over the Hampshire side.

“The wheels are in motion and hopefully in the next few weeks we can get it all sorted and take the club forward,” Thompson told BBC Radio Solent.

“We’re trying to get a group of people together and local businessman back involved,” he added after confirming early discussions have been held with current chairman Mark Hook.

“Some have been involved in the past, so I’m working hard to get them back. We have the club at heart and we’re trying our best to get things moving forward.”
