Leiston have confirmed that Lowestoft Town midfielder Chris Henderson is the latest new signing at Victory Road as Manager Glenn Driver continues to shape his squad ahead of the new BOSTIK Premier Division.
26 year old Chris Henderson has been starring at Suffolk neighbours Lowestoft Town for six years after joining from Bury Town and has been a regular as the Trawlerboys competed in the Conference North and Ryman Premier Division but he has now transferred to Victory Road, signing a three year deal with the Blues.
New signing Chris was impressed with the Blues vision moving forward and can’t wait to get started;
“I had a few options to consider this summer and while it’s not been an easy decision, I have been massively impressed with the ambitions and vision for the club that was sold to me by Andy (Crisp) and Glenn (Driver)” said Henderson. “What came across when I spoke with them was a real determination to build on last season and take the club forward and I can’t wait to play my part in doing that. I can’t wait to get started.
I already know a few of the lads here and I’m looking forward to meeting the rest of the squad. As I said, it was a tough decision for me to make as I’ve spent the last six years at Lowestoft. I had some great times there and developed a really good relationship with the staff and the fans, but I just felt that I wanted a fresh start and new challenge”.
Henderson will be remembered to the Blues faithful for dominating in both games last season and has always been a thorn in the Leiston side whenever the sides have met. He made over 150 appearances at Crown Meadow scoring almost 50 goals, a great strike record from midfield, and will no doubt bring not only a wealth of experience but an abundance of pace and energy to add to a quality squad.
Blues boss Glenn Driver, a long admirer of Chris, was delighted to make the signing.
He said “Signing Chris Henderson is a very exciting signing for myself but more importantly for Leiston Football Club” said Driver. “Chris is without doubt one of the best all round players at this level, he can play in many positions but will ply his trade with us in the centre of the park.
I have seen Chris play many times in the past and he always impressed me. After seeing him play four times last season he was a player I wanted to work with. His appetite for the game is excellent. He strives to be the best and will add so much to the way we play. I would personally like to thank Andy Crisp and the Financial Board for supporting my decision to bring him to Leiston.”
