Macclesfield Town have signed striker Joe Ironside from Kidderminster Harriers on a one-year deal.
The 25-year-old progressed through the youth ranks at Sheffield United and was part of the side which reached the FA Youth Cup final against Manchester United in 2011. Ironside made his debut for the Blades a day after his 19th birthday and went on to make 16 appearances for the club, before gaining valuable loan experience at FC Halifax Town, Harrogate Town, Alfreton Town and Hartlepool United.
After leaving Bramall Lane in January 2015, he returned to Alfreton and signed an 18-month contract with the Reds. He went on to make 30 appearances for the Derbyshire outfit, before signing for Nuneaton Town in February 2016.
Ironside scored 16 goals in 44 appearances at Liberty Way, and this understandably elicited much interest from a variety of clubs, all of whom were eager to secure his services. He signed for Kidderminster Harriers in March 2017 and his prowess in front of goal continued to shine through, as he struck 34 times in 74 appearances.
During this period, he received international recognition, as he was called up to the England C team. Ironside also spent a brief spell on loan at York City last season.
