Whitehawk say Jude Macdonald will continue as manager for the upcoming 2019/20 season.
In a restructure to the backroom staff, John-Paul Kissock will remain at The TerraPura Ground after being confirmed as Player/Assistant Manager. Jonny Elwood will continue in his role as as First Team Coach and Matthew Elphick will remain as a part of the coaching staff.
Looking toward next season, Macdonald said: “After relegation, the most important thing was to try to keep some players from our previous squad. With Matthew Elphick unable to dedicate as much time to the club, having JP on board the coaching staff and playing staff is absolutely massive and he is desperate to help the club in any way he can. He offers the experience of playing at a high level, which is imperative for our young players.”
On becoming assistant manager, Kissock said: “I spoke to Ned who I’ve kept in touch with since my last spell at the club, who I’ve got a lot of respect for, he’s a real footballing man who has the same passion for the game as I do. He asked me, would I be interested in a coaching/playing role this season, and knowing his passion and ambition matches mine I jumped at the chance and am grateful to him for this opportunity.
“I’ve also got a real soft spot for the fans who are some of the best I’ve played for and the people behind the scenes at the club like Nigel and John, all good people. Having worked with Jude for the last four months I can see great potential between us, he’s a real humble guy who’s open minded and always willing to learn and his attention to detail is first class.
“I’m a strong character and I think my style will compliment Jude’s well and I’m looking forward to coming in and helping everyone involved with the club get it where it needs to be. I can’t guarantee success but I can guarantee 100 percent of complete commitment and hard work in getting this football club up the leagues.”
