Jack Mackreth has had his contract with Grimsby Town terminated by mutual consent and has now re-joined league rivals Tranmere Rovers.

Born in Liverpool, he started his career at Tranmere and had a number of loan spells with the likes of Burscough, Colwyn Bay, Cammell Laird and Hyde before signing for signing for Barrow AFC.

It was there that he began to catch the eye of several National League clubs with his performances and after one season there, he made the move to Macclesfield Town.

In his one season at the Silkmen, he won the club’s player of the year award and was a huge part of the side there before deciding to make the move to Blundell Park in the summer of 2014.

However, his first-team appearances have been limited this season.
