Harry Pritchard would have loved to have capped his man-of-the-match display in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Chester with a hat-trick. But he knows that picking up three crucial points is far more important for Maidenhead United.

Pritchard’s penalty in the 13th minute, after James Jones was sent off for colliding with Sean Marks, lit the fuse for a dazzling first half display from the hosts. His second came a minute later from another Marks’ assist, before Sam Barratt’s curling effort delivered the killer blow to Chester’s hopes.

Pritchard said: “We started like a rocket, and to get two goals in the first half is nice. Obviously I wanted a hat-trick, but the three points is the main thing.

“It’s very easy to drop off the boil when a side goes down to 10 men, but I don’t think we did that. When everyone is on their game these things can happen.

“We all clicked today, and were all up for the game. We just need to take that forward now.

“While it would have been nice to score a hat-trick, I’ll maybe just have to save it for another game.”
